Introduction

We at Blackpool S.C. along with the dedicated staff members of the Council are committed to swimming in the area and will always strive for perfection, bending over backwards to promote swimming in Blackpool and the surrounding area. The partnership between Blackpool Swimming Club and Blackpool Council, together with the A.S.A., has worked with a support group of committed athletes, administrators, volunteers and committe members. This along with the professional coaching & teaching staff we are lucky to have at our disposal, have worked together over many years to create one of the leading Swimming Coaching and Teaching Environments in the North West.

As a member of Blackpool's Coaching Program, we hope you will be encouraged to fulfil both your potential as an athlete and to develop as a person throughout your time with us. As a member of a team we ask you to appreciate the philosophy that are virtuous to the characteristics of all great swimmers. How To Join

If you are interested in joining Blackpool Swimming Club either get in touch with Kath Turner (Head Coach, contact details below), or call in to Palatine on a Tuesday night and ask to be shown to the Swimming Club Desk. Alternatively you can call in, either in person or by phone to Palatine Reception (Tel: 01253 478484) stating that you are interested in joining Blackpool Swimming Club and leave your name and contact details, and we will get back to you A.S.A.P. But here is a little bit about us that might help you make up your mind.

Profile: I have been a club member for many years, first joining in 1959 (I think). I have received the benefits of lots of other people’s support, that was given voluntarily, and I, and my family have and are continuing to benefit from the support that the club and all its supporters still provide. I am more than happy to keep myself involved with the Club in any way I can for the betterment of the Club and the swimming fraternity generally.
Responsibility: My role as President is mainly honorary but as an ex officio member of the Executive I do have voting powers by virtue of my office. I tend to take a "back seat" normally but as I have held the role of senior member and Chairman in previous Executives for many years I can bring my experience into play if required. I do have good contacts within the Council's Leisure Department, which can be useful at times. I also do a bit of refereeing ...allegedly.

Profile: I'm a parent who gains great satisfaction in seeing the outstanding bunch of swimmers we have do well in competitions. It's also great working with everyone involved within the club, keeping them on their toes & making friends!
Responsibilities: I organises competitions entries for all the levels of swimmer we cater for, collecting any entrance fees and sending them off. I keep people informed in what is coming up by way of Email, posters and word of mouth. I also work with the Head Coach to provide a competition calendar for all our swimmers. You can often find me at the club desk on Wednesday and Thursdays evenings if you require any information.
